Der Schwächste fliegt! (English translation: The weakest flies!) was the German version based on the Weakest Link hosted by Sonja Zietlow that aired for three series on RTL from March 19, 2001 until February 23, 2002. Series 1 and 2 had a top prize of DM50,000 and series 3 had a top prize of €50,000.

Trivia

• The German version is the second to adopt the format distributed by BBC Worldwide.

• On September 11, 2001, during the second installment of 'Losers' Week,' the show cut to black to broadcast RTL's breaking news of the 9/11 attacks as they occurred.

• On October 5, 2001, the series celebrated its 100th episode.

• During development, the German version was unable to use the exact translation of the Weakest Link for its title. When translated, "link" in German can also be referred to the male anatomy. Instead, this version used "fliegt" as a replacement, that is colloquial German for: is thrown out.
