Weakest Link was the New Zealand version based off British version the Weakest Link. Aired from July 17, 2001 to February 17, 2002 on TVNZ 1. It was hosted by Louise Wallace. The top prize was 20,000 New Zealand dollars.

Trivia

• This particular version was known for lacking in camera and light effects throughout the entire series, and the podiums that were used were lacking in strong features such as a podium light.

• During the show's runtime, the New Zealand version aired three charity-based celebrity specials. One of the specials raised $9,600, the highest total ever reached on the New Zealand version.

• After ten episodes, the series was the #1 rated program in the country before briefly going off the air in September 2001.

• The series returned on Sunday evenings in January 2002, but the ratings were lower than the previous time slot due to being put up against One-Day Cricket.
